Arsenal 2-2 Everton

Arsenal’s match was the one of the only two premier league matches being played this weekend. All the other matches were psotponed due to the snow and the icy conditions.Fabregas missed the game but is set to play in the next match. :)

Everton took the lead early in the first half, when Donovan’s corner was headed in by Osman. Before the half hour mark, Denilson’s shot deflected off Osman to level the score. The seond half started with snow falling heavily on the pitch.Arsenal had most of the postion, however Everton were the team who scored again. In the 81st minute, Pienaar chipped the ball past Almunia. Arsenal managed to salvage a draw, with Rosicky’s shot deflecting off Neill and into the net in injury time. More detailed match report here.

What are your thoughts on the match and on the postponements of all the games at the moment?
A point gained or two points lost? We no longer have a game in hand and we are three points behind Chelsea.

  • We played badly and were lucky to secure a point. On the other hand, the positive thing is that Arsenal didn’t give up and pressed for the second goal. I’ve lost confidence in Almunia (am I the only one?). If Denilson is out, we’ll be in trouble because he’s supposed to cover for Song.

As for Viera, he’s not the first ex-Gunner to sign for another club. And we have got the best out of him.

  • No. They will. But seeing as Chelsea and most of the other teams called off their games last weekend, but Arsenal still played, they no longer have that game in hand over Chelsea. They still have to play Bolton, but Chelsea and the rest have to play their postponed matches too. So everyone but Manchester United and one other team have a postponed game to play.

By the way, Arshavin said that it looks like Denilson had a relapse with his back injury.

  • Arsenal aren’t sure yet what is wrong with him. The last thing Wenger said about it was: “I have just seen him in the dressing room and he can walk quite normally. We will have to see, is it a broken rib or a deeper problem with his lungs? We don’t know.”
