Post match interview + pics + gifs + news update

15 December 2009

Here is the post match interview on youtube, for those of you who couldn’t view it on Sky.

The latest photos section has also been updated with pics of Cesc at the Liverpool game.

I have also added gifs of Cesc at the Standard Leige 2nd leg match and at the Liverpool game. Thanks dreamfight3r for making the gifs.

Cesc: Size of the squad does not matter

“Football is not all about size. We’ve seen successful teams in the past without any physical presence who could play great football. In the second half at Liverpool we showed that if you play good football it’s very difficult to stop.

“It was very important last Saturday to get back on track against Stoke at home. We got a clean-sheet and played some good football. After that most of the players had a week off, rested very well and it showed in the second half up there.

“What I’ve learned over the years is that a football team is not only about one player or two players, it’s about the team. There are 25 players in the squad and whoever comes in can do very well as we showed at Liverpool. In the first half we were not at our best, but came back to win the game, which is the sign of a big team. We can always improve. Even the best team in the world can improve. But the title race has a long way to go and is more open than ever. You can see that any team can beat any team, which is good for the spectators and all the teams. But we’re happy with the situation we’re in right now.”(Source)

Wenger blocks Cesc’s Catalonia call up

In other news, Cesc has been called up by Cryuuf for Catalonia’s next friendly on the 22nd December.Wenger has effectively blocked the move.
“We don’t allow the players to play in friendlies because we have too many games. You know what happens here in England, we play football through the Christmas period. But in all the other countries they stop and play friendlies and charity games.

There is a demand for Cesc but there is a demand for five or six other players. We play on December 27 and I didn’t rest the players against Olympiacos [to then] let them play a friendly.

“I tried to call [Cryuff] back [to tell him but] I couldn’t get in touch with him. I don’t know if he doesn’t use a mobile or I tried to call him in the mountains somewhere but I haven’t heard back.”

if he goes to play then he’ll get injured and then we wont have him back for our games and its not like the catalonia side dont have enough talent?!

  9. Jezzica says:

I think Cesc should stay in England and not play for the Catalonia match, if Cesc goes to play for a charity match it means Arsene has to let others go too to play charity matches in other countires, and we could end up missing half of the players.

  10. columba says:

If he goes he’ll play with Catalonia, not with Spain. I think that he’ll play with arsenal because he’s
the captain and the other match it isn’t important.Does somebody agree with me?
