Arsenal 4 Wolves 1

cescvwolves2Arsenal were away to Wolves today in their last premier league game before the international break, looking to continue their recent great form.

The hosts started the game off well, asking questions of Arsenal in the first twenty minutes or so.
20 minutes into the game and Arsenal start to really find their feet, getting hold of possession and also their usual passing flair.

At the 28 minute mark, Arsenal won a corner. Fabregas swing the ball into the box, Eduardo then forces Wolves defender into deflecting the ball into the back of his own net via his thigh. No celebration from Eduardo as he knows it’s a definite own-goal. 1-0 to Arsenal.

The goal seemed to get Arsenal going, the Gunners started to really dominant and show off some their skill.

A second goal was soon added to the tally. Berra gets drawn forward as Wolves counter, but Fabregas won the ball and played the ball through for Ramsey who latched onto possession in midfield. He advanced with Eduardo on his left and as Wolves defender Craddock is left isolated after they committed men forward. The Croatian international received the ball and cleverly chipped it over Hennessey to make it 2-0. However it did take a deflection off Craddock, but the chip was superb! 2-0 to Arsenal.

Just before half-time Fabregas added a third, with a neat finish after starting a lovely move in midfield. He shared passes with Sagna, who played a diagonal ball into Van Persie in the box. He flicked the ball onto Fabregas, who continued his run, and the captain steered the ball beyond Hennessey’s reach. A typical and classy Arsenal goal.

The second half started off with Arsenal on the attack, taking firm hold of possession, pressing for more goals.

66 minutes into the match, Arshavin forced Hennessey into a fine save at the near post. The goalkeeper is forced to concede a corner and the et-piece was drifted in by Fabregas. The Wolves ‘keeper then punched the ball clear however the ball falls to Arshavin who slams the ball into the back of the net from the edge of the area. 4-0 to Arsenal.

Wolves did manage to get a late consolation prize. Wolves win a 89 minute corner. The set-piece was well placed and Craddock beats Vermaelen to the ball and headed the ball past Almunia. Full match report here.

Congratulations to Arsenal! Cesc scored again! :D

I have added some pictures of Cesc at the match in the latest photos section.

Also, I am getting quite frustrated with conceding late goals, we keep doing it! What do you guys think? A wins, a win, right? Wrong? Let me know!

  • I was thinking at the 87th minute, yes, we’ll keep a clean sheet… and then of course we
conceded ;( Yes, a win’s a win but goals conceded will matter in terms of goal difference esp
in the race to the title is tight later on.

    Anyway, well done Arsenal!!!

  • “We really have to stop conceding these goals! It may not matter when we are ahead a lot in a game, but it could prove really costly against some of the tougher opponents.”

  • Wow even when Arsenal are not yet their best they still score goals for fun LOL I love it. Cesc is playing better then he ever have to me. Seems like everybody can score for Arsenal well not the goal keeper and the full backs but everybody else seems like they can score when they want.
