Carling Cup: Arsenal 2 Liverpool 1
The young guns, well younger gunners took on Liverpool tonight in the fourth round of the Carling Cup. No Cesc obviously, but he was at the Emirates watching from the sidelines with most of the 1st team.
It took 19 minutes for the Gunners to score, after settling into the match with some good possession. Fran Merida claimed his first goal with a great strike from the left edge of the area, in off the post!
Liverpool responded themselves 7 minutes later when Insua scored a wonderful goal from a volley outside the area.
Five minutes into the second half, after some nice movement from the team Bendtner forced his way into the box and slammed the ball into the roof of the net.
This was all that Arsenal needed to do to see the game out. Both teams played some excellent football and were constantly attacking with purpose. Final score Arsenal 2 Liverpool 1. Full match report here.
Congratulations to Arsenal, who go through to the quarter finals. I thought the played incredibly well, and it was great see some injured players return to action!

Cesc was so happy when we scored! It was like he was in with the fans coz when we had chances he kind of rose out of his seat!! He was the first one up celebrating!! And I loved Arshavin’s funny hat!! It made him look taller then Diaby!! Has anyone got any pictures of them in the stands??

awww the kids are so good and I’m so happy for Fran Merida and Wenger said he won’t be going out of loan in January which is good. Got to lock him into a long contract. Cesc, Arshavin, Eboue and others was there. Cesc looked so cool in his hat and he was so happy lol

Good match and hopefully it ended our run of draws. We could have scored more, of only the
finishings were better. Good job Arsenal! And next up, it’s the scum Spuds! We’ll mash them!!!

I'm glad he scored. I hope he stays at Arsenal.
2-1 is a good scoreline.Haven't watched the match so can't comment on it much. I saw the reaction of the Arsenal bench though when Bendtner scored. Cesc was the first to jump off his chair to cheer, and Arshavins hand jiggle was hilarious. ^^ I loved it when the first team players attend to watch the youngsters.

Nice game to watch from both teams. The young Guns deserved the win allthough it was a very
close and open game with chances for both sides. I wish that the Gunners finished a game off
earlier as it sometimes to nervy in the end when they lost a bit of concentration.
