Arsenal 2 Manchester City 4

Arsenal took on their second Manchester side today when they were away to Manchester City. With two of our former players moving to City during the summer, all eyes were on this fixture.

Arsenal started the match with some good passing movements. Arsenal had an early shot at goal when a Van Persie corner met the head of an unmarked Gallas, although he was to meet the target.

Manchester City soon found their feet and were moving forward swiftly. Manchester City soon scored from a free-kick. Richards sent a looping header to the top right corner of the goal. Almunia punched the ball onto the post from where it hit him on the back of the head before going in.

The start of the second half provided much more in terms of an Arsenal attack. Arsenal intorduced Rosicky, which had an immediate effect as he tried to thread one through to goal. This went wide. Vermaelen forced a fantastic save from Given as he let one fly from distance.

Breakthrough came for Arsenal when Rosicky picked out Van Persie just outside the area. The Dutch striker turned brilliantly and fired into the bottom left corner with his weaker right foot.

Van Persie goes down injured, which leads to Arsenal being down to 10 men. Manchester City take advantage of this when Bellamy takes a first-time shot at goal that beats Almunia.

The match turned sour when Adebayor headed in Wright-Phillips’ cross. He ran straight to Gunners fans and was booked.

More pain was inflicted when Wright-Phillips chips the ball over Almunia for Man City’s fourth.

Arsenal did not give up and continued as before. Arsenal tap the ball around on the edge of the area before Fabregas set up Rosicky who tapped it under Given from close range.

Arsenal tried their up-most to try and find a comeback, but their efforts weren’t quite there. Arsenal’s second defeat of the season.Full match report here

Quite frustrated to be honest. Credit to Arsenal for not giving up. I’ll leave my thoughts on Adebayor for the comments.

I have put some pictures of Cesc from the match in the latest photos gallery.

  • I have only seen highlights of this game, but I saw more than enough. Many things have already been said here and I agree with u guys. Adebayor’s behavior speaks for itself, it’s barely worth commenting on and again I agree with u guys. But it’s the whole team in general, all summer we have listened to so much crap about Man City building up a great team, and what an image they have created for themselves, there is nothing great about this, I certainly wouldn’t be proud to play for a team like that. If they continue like this and if they should end up winning something this season, ( I hopr they don’t), then they could be like the most unpopular winners ever. I am also a big tennis fan and there is a term often used in tennis (it’s also a title of a book) it’s called winning ugly. That is exactly what Man City are doing right now.
So bounce back Arsenal you are way ahead of Man City in any aspect of the game.

  • Adebayor…….such ungrateful human being.

How can he do such thing to Cesc when he used to praised cecs n Cesc used to asissist his goals before.

As for RVP he is his duo as strikers.

I can accept the lost but cant accept what Ade did.I hope he got the ban…..as long as possible.

Is money can turn you to such behaviour?

  • I thought Arsenal matched Sh*tty but we lacked the finish. Our defenders were not that sharp on Saturday and I was disappointed in Almunia. He looked like he was asleep on the job a few times.

As for Adebuyout, he is such a classless prick. Classier players would not have celebrated as enthusiastically. MORON!!!

  • Also, I am extremely happy about the return of Rosicky. He looked sharp and scored a goal too!!!

Also, just found this http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11095_5556322,00.html. FA are officially looking into the goal celebrations and the stamp on RVP.

Also, I have added more pictures of Cesc from the match in the latest photos section.

  • I’m sure a lot of the Arsenal players are looking at Adebayor and thinking that its like looking at someone they never knew. I know i feel a bit like that, what does everyone else think?

Adebayor was a disruption to Arsenal’s unity and he’s Man City’s problem now, we should be grateful for that at least.

  • Hey guys!

I appreciate all the comments. I have managed to watch the game again. Still angry at Adebayor but you are right Arsenal were not as sharp as we have seen them before. There is certainly room for improvement. I think we need Arshavin and Nasri will help as well.

Kolo Toure has been confirmed as the full-time captain of Manchester CIty. But who cares!

Van Persie has issued a statement about the injury and says he is disapppointed at his former team-mate. Although no action has been taken so far.

Adebayor has apologised for provoking fans but I dont think it should count. He should still be punished.

Also, latest news is suggesting a police investigation after a steward was hit by something that was meant to be thrown at Adebayor.

Hopefully, we bounce back and get a unbeaten run after this.

  • Another loss . . . :-( :-( :-( I can’t believe it even now. I cried very much after game & I’m still too nervous. Adebayor’s goal was the hardest moment for me & when he shouted in front of Arsenal fans I didn’t know what I can do :-( :-( It’s not something easy 2 believe that we have 2 losses in 4 games now (in premier league) but hope we can compensate in other games & especially about Man City I’m sure we will compensate in Emirates Stadium.
Good 2 see Cesc with the armband, on the pitch again. His assist was brilliant!
I became very glad when I saw Tomas (Rosicky) & I’m very happy 4 him because of his goal!
Gunners weren’t good enough. They can improve so much, very soon & all it takes is some more trying & a little luck!

Adebayor apologized after game 4 provoking Arsenal fans!!!!

Who was Man City’s captain? Kolo Toure? (I missed the match & I could just see the highlights :-( :-( )

    COME ON GUNNERS!
    COME ON CESCY!
    WE WANT SILVERWARE!

    a long comment !!! 4give me !!

  • bad match for us!! :(

i gotta admit that Arsenal looked rather tired for the first half of the match except for the Gallas’s chance of goal.. other than that; they were tired & unorganized at times.. :(

Arsenal only played better when Rosicky was introduced to the game.. he linked up pretty well with Cesc at times.. hopefully Arsenal will be able to bounce back for the Champions League match against Standard Liege..

what can i say about adebayor?? disgraceful, disrespectful & ruthless guy!! how can you treat your former team-mates like that?? he should have gotten a red card for his actions against Cesc & V.Persie.. i cant believe that he actually stomped on V.Persie’s face.. luckily for V.Persie; his studs/boots didnt hit his eyes.. imagine the consequences if it happens to be his eyes; he could be blinded temporarily..

his goal celebration was uncalled for.. adebayor shouldnt have ran all the way to the Arsenal supporter side & celebrate in front of them.. has he forgotten where he came from & who made him into what he is today?? i seriously hope FA will look into these matters & give him a lengthy ban.. if eduardo is given 2 matches ban for a ‘supposed called’ dive; shouldnt adebayor be given like 5 matches ban??

i just couldnt swallow it down that Man City beat Arsenal 4-2.. hopefully Arsenal will win next match..

  • I haven’t watched the match, but I saw Ade’s challenge on rvp. There is no way that that was not intentional. It was a disgusting challenge. Thank god rvp didn’t get hurt in the eye. I hope Ade gets punished for that.

  • nop , we didnt play that good really , the lads deserve credit for not giving up for sure , but apart from this , we looked like a gruop of amateurs playing football in a friendly match , sorry . we didnt create that much chances and the formation is all wrong , obviously wenger wants van persie to get down to the midfield most of the times to give them a hand and that wont help him as a striker , rosicky came down with a sparkle and kept van persie up on the front and BAM !! robin had more that 3 shots and a field goal !!! cesc didnt play well , he looked distant many times , his passes werent that accurate , diaby didnt play that well either , they really looked like – the lads – they didnt want to play that match in the first place :@
for adebayor , what a disgrace !! what the hell he thinks himself !!1 first he tried to harm cesc and van persie ON PURPOSE and then his disgraceful celebration !@!!! what an animal !!! the next time he visits Emirates stadium , the fans will eat him alive !!! cant wait to see the blood bath !! :@ but he really drove me angry when he stepped on van persie’s face !! and them shook hands with his old mates !!! :@ :@ errrrrrrrr

  • forget Adebayor, he’s not worth talking about, I think Arsenal were not sharp enough, they think too much about scoring and forget defending about that, they have to accept when they are pressed down, same procedure as always, so they can’t afford to loose against a weaker opponent, otherwise they will loose their fourth place, I fear………

  • you know i so wont be surprised if we find adebayor’s body lying somewhere dead cause there was an arsenal fan ambushed him…i have a varied colorful words for him but for now all i’m gonna say is he is no better than Drogba and you cant go any lower than that.
    Loser.

  • *urgh*

I would tell you what I think of adebayor, but you’d probably have to censor it all.

i hate that we always keep trying so hard and always have nothing to show for it. we definietly could’ve played better today, but maybe its just not meant to be.

  • i am so fustrated but at the same time proud of arsenal for not giving up till the last whistle.Adebayor is really a traitor,i do not belive that arsenal fans and the arsenal team treated him so bad that he had to go celebrate in front of the arsenal fans.I absolutly dislike adebayor.arsenal played well and it is still early in the season

  • If i see Adebayor somewhere I’ll kill him… It seems that money is everything for him… Arsenal made him a player and look how he is repaying us…

Not a bad match for Cesc, but he can do better.

  • Hey guys!

Bad day for us! I thought we played quite well but the only thing lacking was some goal attempts. Macnhester City defended really well and didnt allow us to get through for the most part.

After we equalised I thought we were gonna win. We were outplaying them but then they scored and got thier momentum back.

Ok so Adebayor – I am disgusted! Firstly I know he should have been a little hot-headed beacuse of the whole former club thing but he should have been sent off. Firstly the foul on Cesc. First yellow card. Then it looked like he stamped Van Persie’s face deliberately. Second yellow card. And off! His goal celebration was disgusting and he should be ashamed. I hope he gets a fine!

Also I cant wait for him to come back to the Emirates after that!

What do you guys think?? Did we play well? How do you feel about Adebayor’s behaviour??
