21 August 2009

Arsenal have continued their winning streak beating Portsmouth to go back to the top of the table.Diaby opened the scoring in the 18th minute in is his 100th match appearance for the club.He soon after scored a second with a cross from Eboue. Portsmouth narrowed the scoreline to 2-1 with a Kaboul goal.Cesc was taken off at half time because he his hamstring tightened. Fingers crossed it is not too serious. We’ll update on his hamstring when more news comes out.
Gallas continued on his run of strange/funny goals with the football rebounding off his face and into the goal at the start of the second half. The fourth was scored by Ramsey in the 68th minute with an assist from Van Persie.Well done to the boys for a good performance. :)

I have put some pictures of cesc at the match in the latest photos gallery.

Injury update- Arsene said this:“If it is a little pull he will be out for three weeks, if it is just tightness, maybe he can get away for Wednesday.

“In 48 hours, we will have a better view.”
Fingers crossed it is only a minor injury.

Cesc will be out for the Celtic clash.

Arsene Wenger laughs off latest Cesc “pact” rumours

The latest transfer speculation surrounding Cesc has seen reports of a supposed “pact” between Barcelona and Arsenal that would see Cesc join the Spanish side next summer.

Arsene Wenger, in his pre-match press conference laughed off any such suggestions and was clearly tired of being asked questions surrounding Cesc’s future, which seems to be in the media more often than not.

“I believe that apart from giving some articles to the newspapers all the rest is rubbish. It doesn’t help football, it doesn’t help people to focus on their job and it is sometimes destabilising.”

“The way Spanish clubs are run is more political than sport-orientated. How much does that harm other clubs? It is difficult to measure. But it doesn’t help other clubs when somebody who has, for example, no chance to be elected next year as president, can announce any name. What can you do against him? Nothing.”

“Does that help other clubs? Certainly not. The only thing I can say that the day I will agree to sell a player one year in advance, I will not be in this job any more.” Full article here

Pretty much as we expected, no pact, no transfer, Cesc is an Arsenal player! :)
