Cesc is looking forward to Wembley

16 April 2009

I have added 6 pictures of Cesc at training today in the latest photos section

Cesc recently spoke about how he is ‘immensely’ looking forward to playing at Wembley.
It is a great stadium from what I heard, with 90,000 fans, so it will be good to play a semi-final there.”

On Arsenal’s official site, he also spoke about his dream of lifting a trophy as Arsenal captain.

“[I think about it] every day. It would be the best thing that ever happened to me to lift a trophy in an Arsenal shirt. It’s a dream for me but we still need to work really hard to finally get there.

“It is all about winning now. We may not have the experience of Manchester United and Chelsea but we have the illusion, the confidence and the excitement to play Finals like the FA Cup and the Champions League and we will try and do as much as we can to be there.”

Cesc went on to say that Arsenal are not ’scared’ of facing Manchester United or Chelsea.

“We are not scared of anything, the way we play shows it all. We always try and play forward, we are direct, we are aggressive playing in the counter-attacks. I think for such a young age it is quite unbelievable, and we will try to do the same thing against Chelsea and against Man United.

“We are in a very good position that three months ago we would be praying to be in. We have to enjoy it, for sure it would be a disappointment if we do not get to the Final or win. What we have achieved is good but the Semi-Final is not good enough; we want to be in the Final.”

Cesc was asked whether he would be looking for revenge this saturday. [Arsenal were runners up to Chelsea in the Carling Cup final in 2007) Cesc said:

“No, we don’t think about that. I don’t like the word revenge and stuff like that.Every game is different, it was two years ago."

“We have played against Chelsea before, we have beaten them a few times, I think at home last year and away this year, so we know that we can beat them.”

“We don’t expect to go against Chelsea and score four goals like Liverpool did. I think [that was a freak result]. They are a very strong team. Chelsea is recognised for one of the best things they have is their defence, they don’t really concede many goals. They are always very, very strong at the back.”

On his fitness, Cesc commented that he is feeling much stronger, but he thinks he needs one more game to be fully fit.

“In the last six weeks I really worked hard with our physio, Tony Colbert, who was killing me. I thought he was crazy but now I know why he was doing it because I feel quite strong.

“This is just my fourth game. Still the last 10 minutes of each game I still feel a little bit but I think in the next game I will be there.”

Arsenal 3-0 Villareal

arsenalvsvillareal
Arsenal beat Villarreal to get throught to the semis, with Walcott, Adebayor and Van Persie scoring. The Gunners played a good game, winning a comfortable 3-0. At the tenth minutes, Theo Walcott scored after a backheel pass from Cesc. That is his fifth assist in four games now :D . Adebayor doubled the score with a goal at the fifteenth minute of the second half and Van Persie closed the match with a penalty for Godin’s foul. With this win, Arsenal reach the semifinals where they will meet Manchester United. This is the second time that Arsenal have got through to the semi finals, with the last time being when they proceeded to the final. Owww- I do hope so much for the guys to win 3:0 tomorrow as well!! =DD can’t wait for the game!
But is it just me or did anyone notice that cesc was a bit– eh, sloppy /nervous, losing balls, in the second half of the villarealgame? (because everyone gave him such high ratings etc… but really no offence to our beloved captain, he’s still the best midfielder of the universe^^) And do I only imagine his haircolour is a bit lighter than usual? more brown actually in the video than black…( oh well this is the worst fangirl coming out of me, its actually embarassing…)

Go gunners! Lets trash the chelskis!

Brilliant result! :P If Cesc can get this many assists while he is not 100% fit, then imagine how good he will be when he is fully fit ;)

Looking forward to facing Man U in the semi’s , should be a great couple of games, but first Chelsea, who are looking good atm, but they have conceded 7 goals in two games! That might be an advantage for us.

However, our choice of defenders is becoming a major problem. On top of Gallas, Djourou, Clichy, Sagna’s out now, and Gibbs might not be fit for Saturday :S

Hopefully we can come through this and get some players back ready for Man U!

Great site, I really love it!

    Come on Gooners!!
Good luck captain Cesc and Co. for tomorrow!

    xx

The game was good. The counterattacks were explosive. I thought the game would have been much harder, but Arsenal were pretty much cruising throughout. And Sagna is out as well. Our defence need to get fit quick!
I hope they play as well against Man United. Arsenal have a good record against them.

And Cesc! He just keeps on assisting. Lol.An assist in every single game now. :D
And Ade as well.Four goals in three games now, I think.

Theo’s goal was <3 And that disallowed goal looked valid to me.
Gibbs really does seem like a mini Clichy.<3

And I heard the guy who got sent off slapped Cesc??I didn’t catch that bit. Did anyone else see?

Can’t wait to face Man United. That game is going to be amazing.

    Chelsea next.
