Cesc at Schools For Hope Charity event

cescgaelandrey
Cesc recently attended Mikael Silvestre Schools For Hope Charity Dinner. This fundraising dinner was hosted in order to raise money for children in Nigeria. We have put two photos from the event in the latest photos section.
Many other Arsenal players attended. You can get pictures of the other players at the event here
Thanks crazygal_miLa for the tip :)

Arsenal 4-0 Blackburn Rovers

andreyfirstgoal
It feels great scoring lots of goals XD The first goal came in the second minute, with Arshaving pressuring Ooeijar, who scored an own goal. Many other chances were missed, with Bendtner having a bit of a ‘mare.Hopefully his confidence will pick up for the next match. Andrey scored his first ever goal, and Arsenal’s 100th in the premiership at the Emrites- a lovely solo goal which he flicked over the goalie, at a tight angle. In the last ten minutes, Eboue came on and managed to score two. For his first, Eboue got on the end of Arshavins deflected volley. He then scored a penalty, which was rewarded after Vela was brought down in the box. (His celebrations were… entertaining…i’ve got to say, the first was my favourite. ^^)
So that is three points and fourth position. XD Match report

Cesc talks fashion

The Times had an article on some of the Arsenal players (Theo, Cesc, Song, Sagna) talking about fashion. Here is what Cesc had to say:
“[I am] very particular about what style is right for me, but it doesn’t have to be expensive. Shopping in London is great, because you really can find anything.”

He then talks about being in a priviledged position.
“Not many people get to realise their dreams, but I am realising mine. I know I have to fight every day, and give everything, because I’m lucky to be here doing what I love.”
Thanks to Katrina for the tip :)

On Arsenal.com, there was also a quote from Wenger about Cesc’s return. It’s basically the same stuff we have already heard about Cesc being hopefully back by April 4th.
“After the international break, Cesc should be back. He is very close” So we should hopefully be seeing Cesc in three matches time!

  • Hey crazy_miLa! Love the username!

Thanks for the article and pictures. How small does Arshavin look? Its actually quite hilarious!

Cesc looks fab as always. I am sure he has said in many interviews that he is not much of a drinker (in terms of alcohol) but I am sure he still drinks a glass or two here and there.

Great seeing the guys off the pitch, doing their bit for charity!

  • guys; i came across a new of Arsenal playing going to a fundraising event done by Mikael Silvestre.. Cesc, Arshavin, Adebayor, Clichy & his wife were among those who attends.. :)
    here is the link: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-1162422/PICTURE-SPECIAL-Andrey-giant–Arshavin-makes-big-impression-pal-Adebayors-shoulders.html?ITO=1490
One of the pic shows Cesc holding a glass of champagne.. thought he don’t like to drink or he simply don’t like alcohol??
but Arshavin looks really small & under-dress; maybe he doesnt know what to wear to these kind of events.. :P

  • congrats gunners….! I still think Arshavin needs to work on his celebrations. To Arshavin., Convince me that’s how yu celebrate…score more and do the same celebrations. i just meant to salute him rather.

  • not forgetting Eboue; he’s slowly getting back to his form which is good for him!! :)

LOVE his celebrations after he netted the 3rd & 4th goals.. Arshavin juz looked at him when he danced after scoring the 3rd goal.. maybe he’s not used to Eboue’s dancing yet.. hehehe.. :P

Song joined Eboue when he scored the penalty & they were cute in their lil’ celebration.. :D

  • yeah!! arsenal is 4th!! cuz aston villa LOST to spurs!! woo-hoo!! :D

the game against Blackburn was superb except for a few hiccups here & there.. :)

Arshavin was waving his magic on the pitch on that game – he’s showing why he’s the main star for Russia during the Euro 2008.. :D

as for Bendtner; i was pissed off with him initially because of his numerous attempts of netting the goal into the net.. but his hardworking rate kinda covered up for his flaws.. hehehe.. i thinks he’s putting too much pressure on himself yet again.. drop the pressure & have fun on the pitch!! he’ll finally find his name on the scoresheets again!! :p

as for the fans who either booed or cheered for him; give him time cuz he’s only 20 & he needs alot of encouragement & support from us (the fans).. so; don’t give up on him cuz i personally thinks he’s better than Adebayor (in my own opinion).. :)

as for our Captain; he was in the stand watching our boys played!! he’s looking good recently.. i cant wait for his comeback!! :)

  • Hey Rukhsans. I think it was a mixture of both. Although I think it was more cheering for him to get behind him.

  • Hi Everyone!!

I totally agree.. Arshavin did play really well. But I have to say what is it with the tongue-wagging celebration. :S

Bendtner passed the ball well and made good use of the pitch, but I think he just needs to work on the finishes as Wenger said.

Blackburn were horrendous when tackling. I could totally feel Wenger’s anger when he confronted the bench. Thank god no one got injured.

And the booing. Well, I see where the fans are coming from, but we won the game, which is the most important thing. When Bendtner was substituted, I couldn’t quite work out if they were cheering for him or for the substitution. Anyone know?

  • Hi walon :) Arshavin did play very well yesterday.

I though apart from all the misses, Bendtner played well yesterday too. His link up play was very good. Vela and Arshavin’s link up play was great as well.

I was not happy with the way that Blackburn played. Arshavin needing four stitches on his ankle at half time, and that challenge on Almunia. That challenge was disgraceful. I don’t know how Diouf didn;t get a red. It was similar to the challenge to Eduardu last year, except this time with intent.
And that dive from Pederson had to be dive of the season. I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw it.

Hi emma. Yeah. Booing doesn’t help at all. The fans have got really frustrated this season and that is how they express it. It’s not right. But look at Eboue. He came back stronger from the booing. And some of the fans did try to support Bendtner, and sang his songs to get behind him.

  • happy…happier…happiest………congratulation gunners for the good work.

hope villa will lost to spurs.

anyway booing is so un civilised……..they need fan support more than ever in difficult time…booing will make things worst.

  • Wenger’s comments on the game:

    On the emphatic performance…
“We have been waiting for goals for a long time and I believe that maybe the pressure came off the team a bit after the Roma game so we played with more freedom. I believe we have more creative talent and the game is more fluid. Our football is coming back which I think is down to psychological reasons.

“The team were always highly focused and they always want to do well. We are on a long and consistent run now and that’s why I believe we can go from strength to strength from now until the end of the season.”

    On Andrey Arshavin’s contribution…
“He has intelligence, vision and talent to pass one against one. His second goal was an example of that. I changed him at half time and put him on the left but he can play right, central or left. You ask any good football player where he wants to play he will say central.

“He had four stitches in his foot at half time, it is cut along the outside completely and the doctor had to make four stitches at the break. We delayed kick off a bit because of that.“

On taking momentum from Wednesday’s Roma match…
“If we had gone out in midweek, would we have gone out and produced the performance today? I don’t know because the win lifts the spirit. You can see signs of our game coming back against Burnley and we scored three at West Brom then four today. It looks like it is not a problem anymore and we play with more freedom.”

On the chances of Arsenal finishing in the top three…
“We know that every game is a challenge. Before we start to dream we play every three days and we can rotate a bit at the moment. We have a challenge in every single game from now until the end of the season and we cannot drop off one or two per cent in our performances. I feel in the dressing room that the team are really up for it.”

On challenging on three fronts for the rest of the season…
“I just rotate a little bit. I know that the players can’t always play. For example I didn’t play Kolo in the cup game but he played on Wednesday and today. I decided to rest Gallas because we knew we would face a lot of high balls today.

“I put four fresh players in today and we have Eduardo injured but Fabregas and Adebayor coming back in two weeks. I rested Van Persie today as well. It looks today that we can do it.”

On the performance of Nicklas Bendtner…
“I am pleased with his overall contribution. He didn’t finish well but he played well. I think after he missed the first chance he took too long on the second one. Then it becomes a problem for you. What is most important is that he creates the chances because once he scores one he will score three or four. He is always in the situation and his first touch was much better today and his movement was good. The rest will come along.

“He likes to play as the lead striker and he has power and pace. He understands the game and he’s only 20 years old, people forget that. I think it completely wrong to boo him. The fans clapped him when he moved off the pitch. They were not happy when he missed the chance but overall I feel the fans are behind him.”
