Arsenal 0 – 0 Fulham

26 February 2009

Andrey Arshavin Arsenal seem to be stuck in their very own version of the movie ‘Groundhog Day’. It was frustrating to watch the team’s goal drought continue, as several opportunities in front of goal went begging. The team’s fourth consecutive scoreless draw in the league sees them remain 6 pts adrift of fourth spot after Aston Villa also drew. Match report.

Apologies, if you left a comment earlier, we had a glitch and recent comments were lost, but everything is back to normal now.

Cesc Fabregas: Focus on fourth

(Source) Cesc has encouraged his team-mates to focus on the race for fourth. He said,

“It is not realistic to look at the league title now. You can never say never of course, but at the moment we would not be intelligent to be looking right to the top of the league,” the Spaniard said.

“To be intelligent now is to go game by game and think about who is directly in front of us.

“Now we have to make sure we put a run of wins together and don’t lose more points.

“Chelsea and Aston Villa will drop points, of that I am sure, and that is why we need to be ready to capitalise at the right time – just as Manchester United have waited half a season for Liverpool to lose some points and taken advantage of it.

“We need to be sure that we take the chances we will get to go above them because it is really important for next season.”

Arsenal have played in Europe’s elite club competition for more than a decade, reaching the final in 2006. Cesc said everyone is focused on the goal of successfully qualifying again.

“We always take things seriously, but now more than ever. In 2005/06 we were really close to dropping out of the Champions League places and had to wait until the last game of the season and I am telling you it is not easy.

“Nobody wants to see Arsenal outside the top four, so we need to stick together. We want to survive this and we will.”

So do you think Arsenal will finish in the top four this season?

I think Andrey’s face said it all about the Fulham game. Ah well. Thank god Stoke equalised. How the heck did they do that in the last few minutes anyway?O_o

Lol, Matt. They happened to remind me of a certain team too……

Jordy- I agree. This has been a strange season for Arsenal…things just have not kicked off for us right. I think the other players coming back will boost them

It was Carlos Vela’s 20th Birthday yesterday :) Happy belated Birthday Carlos! :D

  4. jordy says:

Sure Aston Villa will drop points but are they going to get on the team bus come on down to the Emirates and score a goal for us? Cos if every time they drop points we drop points well… it doesn’t really help!

Seriously, things can only get better!

  5. matt says:

Aston Villa conceded 2 goals in the last few minutes they reminded me of someone…. seriously I hope it will leave them psychologically shaken as it had that affect on us…

  6. fonz says:

no problemo sam! we all have those ‘moments’ lol

Thank god Stoke got the draw with Aston Villa…cheered me up a bit!

  7. sam says:

apologies to all of you who’s comments are missing. I screwed up and the site had to be restored to an earlier version to fix things! Thanks for understanding… I don’t try to be stupid… it just comes naturally :D

  8. jilli says:

I don’t think we should disrespect Aston Villa as much as I hate to admit it, you have to respect what they’ve done and we shouldn’t just say, oh they’ll drop pts sorry Cescy… cos so far this season they’ve managed to take more points than us plain and simple.

  9. db10 says:

I’ve got 20 quid riding on us making it so we f**king better!!

  10. fonz says:

Cesc is right all we can do is go game by game. We have to start by winning against Fulham.

  11. matt says:

Just picturing Rosicky Cesc and Arshavin playing together makes me feel more optimistic about our chances lol hopefully that can happen soon.

  12. crazygal_miLa says:

i really like his words of encouragement!! :)

he have not give up on the title challenge; have he?? :P

maybe he said all these to spur his teammates.. but i really hope that arsenal will be fourth or even higher by the end of the season.. :D

  13. jas says:

that’s such a cute pic XD

I don’t know anymore. I really really really hope we make the top 4 but Aston Villa really seem to be going well…it’s a worry

  14. TA says:

I’m with George at this stage it’s more hoping than believing to be honest but if as Cesc says we could string a run of wins together… then everything changes but we have to do that

  15. max says:

I still think we can do it. A lot can happen in the last couple of months of the season

  16. george says:

Villa have already dropped points and we haven’t capitalised,,, I just hope that they’ll drop more and that we can close the gap

I hope we’ll finish in the top four,,, but I’m feeling nervous about it
