Arsenal Mastermind

Here is a great blast from the past. A video of Cesc Fabregas, Jens Lehmann, Kolo Toure and Philippe Senderos going toe to toe for the Arsenal mastermind crown! Thanks to nvboy for uploading it. Did you know the answers?

Cesc Fabregas photos Continuing on with the blast from the past theme, we also have some photos from last Summer of Cesc giving a masterclass in Uzbekistan. Cesc, Carles Puyol and Andres Iniesta were guests of Bunyodkor FC. These photos were generously donated to the site by Muattar, who was lucky enough to attend. Thanks Muattar! 25+ photos here.

  • He played for the reseserves for the 1st time and was out 3 wks with his hammy now he plays first team and is out 2 wks with his hammy, Ok. If we go by this pattern, he will play again, and then be out for one week with a hamstirng injury, then he will play again and be fine :)
Sam, I’m worrying a bit about the first match as well. But at least for the second (fingers crossed) we will have a few of our players back fit which will be a boost.
Jilli, as far as I am aware, there have been no more Arsenal masterminds with Cesc in it. They tend to quiz different players each time.

Rosicky back before cesc?O_o Thomas has been out for ages. I’m always worried about whether he will be able to play football again, or whether he will just keep on obtaining injuries. His contract runs out in the summer I think.

I think I’d go with what the club say. Cesc is more likely to be optimistic, and if we take the pessimistic approach and he ends up coming back earlier than expected, then at least we will be even more happy. Sometimes being pessimistic is good :)

I’m working tomorrow so I am going to miss the Sunderland match. :( I’m completely gutted that I won’t be able to see Arshavin’s debut, but I shall be coming on here and hearing about how lovely Arsenal played, and how Arshavin scored 1/2/3 beautiful goals. No pressure boys. XD

  • Thanks TA :) Er… scratches head… with Feb being a short month a couple of weeks from now is the beginning of the 2nd week of March… so … how is what Cesc says and the club source says different? We play Burnley March 8th… that’s 16 days away… seems a bit soon if he hasn’t kicked a ball yet. The 2nd leg against Roma sounds possible but of course that’s not what Arsenal.com says…

  • Saw this in the evening standard on Cesc’s possible return timetable

The midfielder believes he could return within a couple of weeks but a club source claimed a more realistic assessment puts his comeback in the second week of March. This would put him in line for the visit of Burnley in the fifth round of the FA Cup or the trip to Rome four days later.

  • Sorry Matt missed your question. Well according to Arsene in the interview he gave yesterday – Theo is 2 weeks away, Eduardo is 2 weeks away, Ade is 10 days away, Rosicky is 3 – 4 weeks away and Cesc is 4 – 6 weeks away from returning. It’s all on Arsenal.com under injury news and going by past experience, it may all turn out to be wrong lol But based on that none of them would be available for the 1st leg against Roma but Ade, Theo and Eddy are all expected to return before the second leg.

It will be amazing to see Rossicky back, he will really feel like a new signing lol as it’s been so long, even longer than Eddy!

  • Thanks Rose for the update on Cesc & Eduardo…..boy, that’s going to be some bench or more likely some ressies team – Eduardo (coming back from hamstring injury #2 in 3 months), Rosicky, Theo, Ade and Cesc! :P

Given that Arsene is highly cautious about his returning players look for these four to be there awhile.

  • On the whole Cesc return date thing… Arsenal.com posted a story “Fabregas closing in on first team come back” on the 17th Feb but then they deleted it from the site. Now Arsene is saying 4 to 6 weeks. It seems there is some disconnect between what came out in the captains notes and what the official word is from the club.

Arsene is probably just wanting to be conservative in case there are any set backs but I’m still hoping to see him in 3 to 4 weeks rather than 4 to 6

Hope Eduardo is better soon, after such a long time out these kinds of set-backs were to be expected I’m sure he’ll bounce back.

  • Poor Eduardo that is major suckage. Bri – I guess we should know by now that Arsene always says the injury is less serious than it is, when he’s first asked after the game. I suppose a football manager can’t survive without being an optimist.

However, I see they updated the injury news on Arsenal.com for Cesc and Arsene is saying he’ll be back in 4 to 6 weeks – and that seems pessimistic lol

Cesc said a day or 2 before Feb 16th that he would be training with the ball within 10 days and it is generally expected that once he is training with the ball then he would be looking at returning in 2 weeks. So based on that I would be guestimating that Cesc is looking at being on the bench in 3 weeks – touch and go for the second leg against Roma.

BUT Arsene is saying he won’t be back until (let’s see Feb 19 + 28 days =) March 19th at the earliest. That’s still ahead of schedule and I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. I guess if we go with Arsene’s time frame – then if he’s back sooner it is a bonus :D

  • I knew Dudu had picked up an injury just before he went off but Arsene made it sound like it was nothing so I hoped he would be available for Roma… poor Dudu must be so frustrating. He played for the reseserves for the 1st time and was out 3 wks with his hammy now he plays first team and is out 2 wks with his hammy, he must be so desperate just to be fit for a while and get a run of games

The first leg against Roma is a bit of a worry we will be missing a lot of good players through injury and Arshavin is cup tied.

  • jilli- they do Arsenal masterminds every year as far as I am aware. I know that last season, I got a membership pack, which contained a dvd with a new version of Arsenal mastermind. But they change the people they quiz. Last time, they even had one of the footballers (kelly smith) from the ladies team.

  • I love his pronunciation of Woolwich. And that interviewer needs to lighten up a bit. Lol. He just seems so serious all the time. I
looool. How does jens not remember who he made his debut against? I miss crazy Jens

I loved Kolo in this vid. He is so funny.’Chelsea, chelsea’ ‘can we start again’!Lol.

And bless phil getting all excited at wining. He has blatantly been doing his research before the quiz.lol. I want him back!

Eduardo is out for two weeks because he pulled a hamstring two minutes before he came off. That means no Dudu against Roma :9

On the plus side,Arshavin is going to take part against Sunderland, but Arsene hasn’t decided whether he is going to start him or sub him.
