Cesc Fabregas: Pepsi Footvolley

8 February 2009

Just found this on youtube thanks to Liliashley, it is the making of a new Pepsi commercial featuring Cesc Fabregas, Torres, Henry, Messi, Kaka & Lampard. The website pepsi football has more from the campaign, including a clip of Cesc talking about Messi – it’s also on youtube. Screen Caps are in the photo section.

Tottenham 0 – 0 Arsenal

gael clichy A Nil all draw is usually referred to as a bore draw but there was nothing boring about this match. Arsenal showed great courage and fight to come away with a point.

In the 13th minute Arsenal had a goal by Eboue incorrectly disallowed because of a non-existent foul on Spurs’ Woodgate during the build up. Eboue was then sent off in the 37th minute when he received his second yellow card. His first was for dissent and some might argue a little harsh. His second came for a moment of immaturity that a player on one yellow could not afford.

Down to ten men Arsenal were of course up against it. Outstanding performances from Almunia, Gallas and Sagna amongst others, enabled the team to hold on. Arsenal remains 5 points off 4th position. Match Report.

Our season has been made more difficult with Adebayor sustaining a ham-string injury today and of course Eboue will serve a suspension. Gael Clichy also left the field injured after making a brave clearance and although the cut to his head looked nasty, it will hopefully prove superficial.

New signing Andrey Arshavin and Eduardo were part of the bench but remained un-used subs today. Still it is encouraging to know that they will soon be ready to help the cause.

    Found this game online!!!

You can play footvolley AS FABREGAS!!!

    f-ing awesome! games hard though…

  2. kate says:

i am so glad and proud of my team . after eboue was sent off , i thought it is gonna be a sure loss but i was surprised when we got one point. i have to give the team a credit as they sticked together and fought until the end , they even tried to score which i dont think many teams could have done . so proud .
wenger made the right thing by not making a change . if eboue wasnt sent off , i think arshavin could have played 30 minutes in the end of the game . it is right that nasri looked tired in the end of the game but he can do some defending roles unlike arshavin and arshavin could have taken some time to get into the game which we couldnt afford . it was going to be a risky change .
i was surprised the goal was disallowed . there was no push and no foul and i think the goal was correct . mike dean looks mean anyway . he doest seem nice .

i dont think vela , ramsey or jack could have done anything in this game , arsene usually use them in closed games when we cant find spaces and the the other team is only defending and tottenham didnt do this . vela and ramsey are still young and inexperienced and could have lost the ball quite a lot and we couldnt afford this too.

arshavin wont play against cardiff. . i think that is good to train more with his teammates and a start against sunderland at the emirates will be good too.

i watched the goal replay 4 TIMES and i can tell you there was NO PUSH , NO FOUL , 100 % THE GOAL IS RIGHT . the refree must have been somrwhere else .but it is over now .

so glad arsene is going to africa with ade , cesc and nasri . great team and great spirit . i just wanna say dont be so harsh on ade . i know he isnt playing that good but he is trying really hard . he missed some good shots against westham . it happens .

    go gunners
    go fabregas
and good luck to ade tonight .

  3. Rose says:

Thanks Tuty :D Yeah Plu mentioned he is ineligible so perhaps we will see him debut against Sunderland. That will be a big match for us perhaps we will see Eduardo too!

lol @ TA I hope it’s the first scenario too. I feel a bit sorry for Scolari but ultimately all I really want is Chelsea to keep right on dropping points!

  4. Jamie says:

    …gutted.
    ..disappointed…furious….indeed.

  5. Tuty says:

Sorry folks, just checked Arsenal website and it seems Shava will not be making his debut against Cardiff for the reason cited in the link:
    http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/arshavin-won-t-make-his-debut-against-cardiff

  6. kim li says:

DC Wash Eboue have NO quality, he an average player on good day and very expensive problem to the team on a bad day. He must be sold.

It would be better if Arshavin could play v Cardiff as fa cup may be best chance we having! and he better even unfit!

  7. siew lan says:

Cesc looks so fiiiinnneeee la in this vid XD

  8. TA says:

Rosies right that is exactly what we based it on. If Chelsea are currently on track to end up 4th with 75 pts then we would need 76 to finish above them… given there much better goal difference.

Of course Chelski have now sacked Scolari and it’s impossible to know how that will affect them. They may continue their poor run of form… with this instability or the players may be pleased he has gone and they may get a new manager who does well and their form may improve. Needless to say I hope it’s the first scenario :D

  9. Tuty says:

I think we were below our par with the woeful passing. Adebayor was a disgrace and I was actually glad he was hurt so that he could be substituted. And Eboue was a selfish brat. Why stoop that low to the scum’s level and earn that red card? In doing so he robbed his teammates and the fans of the opportunity of a full three points. He should have been mindful that he ahd already been booked albeit wrongly. As a result, the rest of the team had to struggle for almost an hour among the ten of them. And I wish Wenger had substituted someone because the others were tired having to stretch themselves for a whole 90 minutes. I do hope Clichy is OK.

  10. sam says:

Maybe it’s not a bad thing that Arshavin isn’t eligible for our next match as the expectation levels are so crazy, it’s probably best he have a chance to train with the team and get used to them before he has to play.

  11. Rose says:

Hi Max :D he’ll be working on “pace” to get the 76. For example if Villa have 51 from 75 and continue to win lose and draw at the same pace they are on track for 78 pts and Chelsea with 49 are on pace for 75. We are currently on pace for 67 pts. It’s not a perfect projection by any means as I’m sure TA will agree, but in terms of setting a target for what is needed after 2/3 of the season have passed, it’s a reasonable guestimator. Liverpool were 4th with 76 pts last season but in 05/06 and 06/07 we were fourth with 67/68 pts so the final number could rise or fall depending on the form of those above us. I still think there is time for us to make 4th but we need to start winning.

hey Meri :D the clip is on you tube here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Wq8-74BhYw

  12. ~meri says:

I had trouble play the Fabregas talks about Messi clip is jumpy can you put it on youtube pls? Cesc looks very handsome in these ad!

  13. Plu says:

I was also really proud of our away support you could hear them in full voice in the second half at times completely drowning out the home support. They were great. Our away support is amazing. I prefer our away support more than our home support tbh. They are much louder and get behind the team more.
    Those statistics are scary….
And Scolari got sacked. That’s two managers in two days 0_0

Thanks Charles for that link. That made me feel all warm inside. They are all going to support him ^^ <3 That is what I call a team. And a great manager. I love Arsenal :) <3

Oh, for the match against Cardiff, Arshavin can’t play as he was not an Arsenal player before the date of the first tie against Cardiff, so he is ineligible.

Thanks for the videos!!The commercial looks like it is going to be quite funny ^^ And looooooooool @ thierry in the truck :)

  14. jilli says:

cute! XD I would rather look at Cesc’s Pepsi Ad than think about Arsenal right now lol

  15. max says:

just out of interest TA how do you get 76 as what is needed for 4th?

  16. mon says:

    Cesc is so cute <3

  17. TA says:

true enough bri and at the end of the day there’s no point sweating it, que sera sera and all that! The lads may still turn things around.

I just read that Arshavin will NOT be eligible to play in our FA Cup 4th round replay against Arsenal since he was not an Arsenal player on the date of the first tie.

I didn’t know about that rule… so it seems we will have to wait till Sunderland

  18. jas says:

Thanks for the cute clip! Can’t wait to see the ad, Pepsi do some goodies XD

I was relieved we got a point yesterday! Considering we got eboued and we got deaned it made it pretty tough. We really need to have better luck

  19. bri says:

now c’mon guys enough with the doom and gloom still got a third of the season to go! nzgooner is right could be a few more twists and turns to come:D

Cesc has the hair style he has last September in that clip, you know it wasn’t so bad :D

  20. George says:

well Sambo,,, I don’t want to go on about this too much,,, I mean it’s not like it will help anything,,, and I’m with you on the whole keeping the faith thingo,,, you are right we are just 5pts behind. It’s easy to think if the team above us loses x 2 or draws x 3,,, we’re back in it,,, but you need that to happen in a scenario where you lose no points yourself. So Sure if we take every 1 of our remaining 39 pts then all we need is for Chelsea to drop 6 pts for example. But we need them to drop 6 pts plus any pts we drop we will need them to also drop,,, and the shorter period of time you are working with the harder it gets too. It’s not impossible, it’s still possible,,, but every draw ups the degree of difficulty.

Anyway AV next play Chelsea,,, so 1 or both must drop points and if we can get a win we will definitely make up ground. So let’s see how things look after that match,,, hopefully things will work out well for us.

    thanks for the vid

  21. sam says:

I feel your pain TA. Don’t worry I had to tone down the match report after I’d calmed down as I was majorly pissed off when I wrote it. I know it’s not looking good for us but we could still do it. We’re only 5pts behind 4th. All we can do is keep the faith.

Thanks for that link Charles :D We’ll keep an eye out for any more news about that.

  22. DC Wash says:

The team knew they needed to win this. They never played for the draw. I think they lost some composure in the last 10 minutes because they knew how badly they needed it. It was a gutsy performance. They all fought hard. Perhaps 1 or 2 players did not have great games but it was not for lack of trying and it is difficult to play with your back to the wall.

I know it is understandable that Wenger did not substitute Eboue as first half substitutions are rare but I could see he was destined for an early shower. I am not blaming Wenger, but 10 minutes before Eboue was sent off, I was certain that he would be. He was playing well and he might arguably have been our best attacking player but after the goal was wrongly disallowed, his play took on an intensity that you knew was going to end in something rash happening.

I think calls for him to never be allowed to play for Arsenal again are extreme. I am not defending him and fans reactions are understandable but others in the team have had moments of red-mist that have hurt the team, and similar calls weren’t made.

  23. charles says:

Cesc coming to Nigeria with Adebayor and the professor today!! I do not think I get chance to see but I’m still happy for my country to be host to special delegation from Arsenal

    http://www.thisdayonline.com/nview.php?id=135179

  24. NY-Gunner says:

The ref was a clown and bad calls are frustrating as hell but they happen, we had a goal disallowed against Sunderland that should have stood too. We also had an off-side goal allowed against Chelsea, you just have to hope that you come out square at the end of the season.

I still think we could have won it if we’d had 11 players on the park for the full game. Eboue really let the team down.

Our defense deserves kudos for their performance. The work-rate was phemomenal.

  25. TA says:

Thanks for editing that for me Rosie :)

I should say now that I’ve had a few hours to get a bit of perspective of course I am proud of the team for hanging on for a point. It’s a hell of a tough task playing 10 v 11 for that long.

I was also really proud of our away support you could hear them in full voice in the second half at times completely drowning out the home support. They were great.

I was very upset after the match because George and I were having a chat and a beer beforehand and it’s very unusual for us but we were looking at the table and doing some sums. Up till then I believed we ‘had more time’… but I guess what we realised is there’s 114 pts up for grabs in a season and 75 pts have been played for now (25 matches). We have taken 44 pts. Last year we ended up with 83 pts for the season. We would have to win every single one of our remaining matches to equal that now. We worked out that statistically to have a real shot at 4th we need at least 76 pts. That would now mean taking 32 pts from the remaining 39 pts (13 matches) that means we need 82% of the remaining points and so far this season we have not even collected 60% of the points up for grabs.

We don’t need to improve a little, we need a dramatic sea-change in our fortunes, we need to find a rich vein of form. The Spuds are in the bottom 5, we have to take 3 pts from teams in the bottom quarter of the table. We have matches away to Liverpool and Manchester United (knowing us we’ll win those lol) but still when we play bottom of the table teams we need to take full points.

After the game I just felt a sense of despair. I am proud that they hung on and there were some immense performances given but we are really getting awfully close to the point of no return with this season now.

  26. arshy says:

Def should hv playd Andrey! I reckon he would have been revved up with it bein his debut and he wud have scored!

  27. janet says:

It is such a shame about that legit goal being disallowed. I believe it changed everything because Eboue does not score often and he felt frustrated and upset and I think that contributed to him picking up his first yellow for dissent.

  28. nzgooner says:

Credit to the lads. Even when we were down to 10 men we always looked the more likely to score. We really deserved to win. The ref made a terrible decision disallowing the goal. It should have stood.

Dean is an abysmal referee with a history of making horrendous calls against Arsenal. If you were the type to subscribe to conspiracy theories, you could begin to wonder if he has it in for us.

A point isn’t the result we hoped for or the result we deserved but I think this season could still have a couple more twists and turns in it yet. It’s not over yet.

  29. bri says:

I didn’t get a good look at the disallowed goal. It did look as if Ade had impeded him but if Wenger has seen it slo-mo 3 times and says it was legit… then that is even more heart-breaking :(

  30. George says:

Just watched a replay,,, Wenger is of course 100% right the goal should never have been disallowed,,, Jebus wept.

  31. Plu says:

awww. Poor clichy. I hope he gets better soon. Tbh, I’m not worried about Adebayor being injured as we do have enough strikers.Nicky and rvp can do the job perfectly fine. I think by the next match against Cardiff, Arshavin will be starting, or at least be a sub. Eduardo as a sub as well, I think.

I haven’t actually seen a replay of the disallowed goal so I hae no idea whether it was legit or not.

We deal with our problems internally. The newspapers never help us to sort out problems out. Oh the newspapers are going to have a field day tomorrow. No doubt the stories will all focus on eboue’s sending off.

  32. Rose says:

    Here’s Arsene’s post match comments

On two points dropped against Tottenham…
“I believe we had a resilient, committed attitude and I’m proud of our attitude during the 90 minutes. But I feel it is two points dropped because we had the best chances and we scored a regular goal that was ruled out by an illusionary foul seen by only the referee. I watched it three times on television and I still don’t see what was wrong. That is why at the end of the day it’s frustrating.

“We keep going. We have a momentum it is true but we didn’t score today. We haven’t lost for 11 games now and we just keep going.”

    On Emmanuel Eboue’s disallowed goal…
“He has seen a push from Emmanuel Eboue but in fact it was Jonathan Woodgate who pushed him as well and then stumbled over Emmanuel Adebayor and falls down. If you see it again you see that it’s nothing. It is not acceptable really it is not serious.

“I believe the person closest to the ball was the referee. He was in the best position and did not judge the push from Eboue he judged the fact that Woodgate fell down.”

    On Eboue’s red card…
“I believe that the first yellow card was very harsh. You have players who make 15 fouls in the game but don’t get a yellow card. What he did was clumsy but the first yellow card was very hard. The second one, I haven’t seen. They have told me that he has retaliated, if he has retaliated then he deserves a yellow and a red card. It doesn’t matter who saw it. If someone saw it for real then he deserves to be sent off.

We deal with our problems internally. The newspapers never help us to sort out problems out. If he has retaliated today then we’ll see. I want to first see it before I assess the situation. It was impossible to see what happened because the ball had gone.”

On reacting to the sending off…
“We kept playing with two strikers and we tried to win it and there was enough room to win this game. Tottenham created very little overall and even when we had 10 men they never really pulled us out of position.

We needed one or two saves from Manuel Almunia but overall I think we controlled them very well. What troubled us was creating because we were down to ten men for so long and that’s difficult.”

    On the referee’s overall performance…
“I do not want to develop a paranoia it is just a moment of the season in a game like today. I cannot say I am against the referee, he had a game, he had a game. He made a big decision wrong. I cannot say it was right because I have seen it three times on television and it is still a goal”

    On the injuries incurred…
“Adebayor is out for three weeks with a hamstring.

“We have Carlos Vela, we have Nicklas Bendtner, we have Eduardo we have Andrey Arshavin and we have Robin van Persie. We have plenty of strikers.

“Gael Clichy’s head wound is open. He gets stitches in it.”

  33. matt says:

The frustrating thing is that we really could have won this. Song should’ve scored, Robin should’ve scored and Bendtner should’ve scored (all in second half).

I know we needed to win but it’s hard to put into words how much it means to me not to have lost. To lose to the scum. It just (shudders) doesn’t bare thinking about… so damn I’m pleased with the boys for at least holding on and saving my dignity.

  34. TA says:

That’s alright I’m probably not putting things clearly as I’m distracted by plotting the murder of Eboue… :)

  35. Plu says:

oops. Sorry TA for the misunderstanding. I agree with you about not putting them on the bench. I was surprised that Vela wasn’t on the bench. I would have fancied putting him on for the match. Especially ahead of Eboue. But then again, that never happens.

  36. TA says:

You misunderstand Plu, I’m not saying Arshavin should have been played, quite the opposite. I’m saying he shouldn’t have been on the bench. You have to actually have players on the bench that you can play. That when you are playing with 10 men and you could do with inserting a fresh pair of legs into the match, give you options. It would have been better for us to have had Vela for example. The bench is not a nice spot to watch the match from. It is not the place for players who are not match-fit to ‘be-on-show’

  37. max says:

I can live with this result, considering we were playing with 10 men for most of the game. You have to take a good with the bad.

Hopefully Eboue has played his last game for Arsenal. He was actually playing well for the first 37 minutes but kicking out like that was inexcusable. Players have to be able to have some self-control for the good of the team.

  38. fonz says:

It’s a good result, considering the fact that Eboue ruined the game and let the team down. But we needed 3 points. We will begin to run out of time to close the gap soon.

  39. Plu says:

Arshavin isn’t match fit, and what is the point of throwing him in the deep end? Subbing him into a team which is down to ten men, and expecting him to produce something which will win the match is a great ask.As for eduardo, wenger wants to ease him in. Again, the pressure (from the fans especially) for both would have been immense in this game.
I don’t blame Wenger for sticking with the players he had on the pitch. They were coping with it, and subbing a player could have disrupted the balance. I know we needed three points, but given the circumstances, we should be content with a point.

  40. bri says:

just as well the scum are shite or we could have been well beaten there. I am pleased considering I thought we would lose when Eboue was sent-off, to get the point. I would add Bendtner to the list of players who dug deep in the second half.

Denilson is just poor. I’m sorry but really, he doesn’t seem to know where our goal is… I mean can there be another reason for why he never actually passes the ball towards it?!

Eboue Eboue Eboue, I defended you. I sent you an e-mail when people booed you. I gave you the benefit of the doubt many many times… but you can’t have brain malfunctions like that and keep the fans respect. I wish we had sold you to Atletico Madrid if they really did make an offer for you.

  41. George says:

I feel kind of relieved to have gotten a point,,, but I feel absolutely gutted at the same time,,, we can claim now it is 11 unbeaten,,, but who are we fooling the reality is we are dropping points every game for what the last 3 games in a row,,, we’ve dropped six points same as if we had won only 1 of them and lost 2. I’m not interested in this “unbeaten run”,,, what we need are points.

Agree Almunia, Gallas and Sagna were beasts for us,,, also Song gave it everything,,, I think if we’d had 11 on the pitch for the full match we could have won it

  42. TA says:

As nice as it was to see Arshavin and Eduardo on the bench what is the point in having them there if they aren’t ready to play? We only had 10 men for most of the game… the lads are run ragged and with 10 minutes to go we didn’t put on a fresh pair of legs… we only subbed when forced by injury.

    We needed 3 points.

    I’m disappointed in Eboue

    edited at TA’s request

  43. Plu says:

I’m glad we got the point to be honest. Although Song could have scored. And Bendtner came close.

Credit to our players – they managed to hold on well and kept positive. They attempted to attack, even though many other teams would have just defended if they were in our position.
And Almunia <3 Especially impressed with Gallas as well today.

I hope Clichy is ok. That looked like a lot of blood. And Ade out as well :( Well, at least we have Eduardo back so that kind of makes up for it.

I’ve already ranted about Eboue, but I think the manager will be having a talk with him afterwards. Arsene did not look the least bit happy throughout the match.
I’m still worrying about 4th position. Aston Villa just keep on looking stronger, and they have been consistent. I don’t see them slipping up. I’d rather put my money on Chelsea slipping up at the moment.
