Cesc could possibly make Feb 24 return!

Cesc Fabregas and Robin Van Persie According to an article in The Mirror, Cesc Fabregas could return from injury in time for the February 24th Champions League match against AS Roma. The article says they have spoken with Cesc’s doctor, Ramon Cugat and that he said when asked if Cesc could make it, “I think so. The Arsenal doctors said it normally takes three-and-a-half months to recover because of the way it happened. But I believe he will return quicker than then. I recognise that the player needs to be ready, to have good mobility and stability and that he needs to feel good after returning to training.”

“The one that will know best is the player. I saw him last week. He passed the tests, there had been a clear improvement and that he was expecting to make a speedy recovery. What is even better is that he could recover more quickly than is considered normal, which is very good.”

It’s great news that Cesc may return earlier than expected but we’ll have to wait and see what the club says, closer to the time. These things can be unpredictable, as we have seen with other players, but fingers crossed!

Other news – Here is a lovely quote from a new Robin van Persie interview. He praises Cesc saying, “We really miss Cesc. I think everyone can see that. He’s a special player, a big player, another artist. He has vision, a quick mind. He’s the heartbeat of the team. He makes the game.” You can read the full interview here.

In other news, it has been cryptically reported that Cesc’s recent holiday was to a remote spot in the Indian Ocean. The Maldives perhaps? Arsenal-mania also mentioned that since his return to Spain, he has watched an Arsenal game with a former team-mate. Cesc said, “I watched the Everton game on Wednesday night with Alex Hleb in Barcelona. It wasn’t being shown on general television in Spain, but we eventually managed to find a place where it was on, but it was a very strange place! It was nice to watch it with Alex, and I was very pleased for the team that they got the equaliser.”

Cesc Fabregas: Tottenham

We thought in preparation for the North London Derby this weekend, we would post a video of highlights from Arsenal’s trip to the Lane in September 2007, including Cesc’s 80th minute goal. What a cracker it was! And not only did he score a goal, but he was also involved in the other two goals (both scored by Adebayor in the 65th and 90th minute) as well. Good luck to the boys this weekend. Here’s hoping we have a similar scoreline :)

  • I am so angry right now. I thought it was wrong when people booed eboue last time, but he was a complete twat today. He played well. I agree with that. But he should not have kicked out at Modric when he was already on a yellow card. How stupid can you be? I know there is the whole heat of the moment thing, but he should realise we are struggling to get back in the top four, and getting fricking sent off is not going to help. And the other players have not been angels either. There are some stupid tackles which are getting our players yellows, and nasri stupidly kicked out at the tottenham goalkeeper. If the ref had seen that it could have been a yellow. They need to all calm down.

Hopefully they will clam down over the break, and come out more organised and composed.I’d be happy with a point right now. But I’m confident they can do well. We were down to 10 men earlier in the season and our players did well.
Arshavin and eduardo on the bench :) I doubt wenger will put them on though.

    come on boys!

  • Eduardo on the bench!! Fantastic. I knew Arshavin would be but I wasn’t expecting to see Eduardo. Well that makes it a special day and we better mark it with a win :D

I saw an interview with Arsene he made it sound like Arshavin might well see some minutes. So we might not have to wait as long for his debut as we thought :D

Off to watch it now catch ya after

  • lol@ Sam :D

Team: Arsenal: Almunia, Sagna, Toure, Gallas, Clichy, Eboue, Song Billong, Denilson, Nasri, Adebayor, Van Persie. Subs: Fabianski, Eduardo, Ramsey, Djourou, Arshavin, Bendtner, Gibbs

It’s great to see Eduardo and Arshavin on the bench. Although I don’t know that we will see them play, I don’t think we will if we are winning, as Arsene has said he doesn’t want to rush them.

Come on the Arsenal! We love you :D

  • I know Max but Blackburn were never likely to pose a problem. Chelsea dropped points though. It was good to see Hull city taking some points off another top side so we are 6 points behind 4th spot with a game in hand. We can still close the gap on 4th as AV are in 3rd now. As I said a couple of weeks ago on here the battle for 4th may not be a battle with AV

  • Just knowing his recovery is going really well and that he is ahead of schedule is great! And we’ll see closer to the time what game he returns in. I don’t want to get my hopes up for the 24th as it seems so soon but it’s great news that he’ll be back early

  • February. Really?! O_o That’s quick. But it would be awesome if he did play, as long as he is fit. :) And rosicky to be back in 6 weeks. Our midfield is going to be awesome ^^

“I watched the Everton game on Wednesday night with Alex Hleb in Barcelona. …seeing his name mentioned still hurts. Glad cesc got to go meet up with one of his bb’s. :)

  • This is f**king great news! We only have the NLD then the replay against Cardiff and then the game against Sunderland before then and I think we can do the business. If Cesc can even just make the bench for the Roma match it would be massive for us

    February 7, 2009

seems like i miss out alot since my last visit!! hehehe.. :P

i read the news regarding cesc’s recovery & early return to action.. if it is really true; i’ll be jumping for joy cuz it’s been months since we last saw him on the football pitch!! i really miss our captain cesc!! :(

    February 7, 2009

  • That’s great. Even if he was back in time for the 2nd leg it would be a big big boost. I think Arsene will insist on him coming back slowly to be careful but it sounds like we’re not going to have to wait until April and that’s good.

    sam

    February 7, 2009

  • It will be a huge boost for the team,,, and our season,,, if he is back by the 24th or by early March even,,, seeing as we were thinking April

    February 7, 2009

  • lol I know what you mean bri I had the same reaction lol the Feb 24 date is only a “could possibly” date but the overall article is really positive. I mean Cugat is his doctor and has examined him and these direct quotes from him suggest – as Georgie said – that Cesc is some super fast healer :D And it sounds really encouraging

    February 7, 2009

  • Can this be true? I mean I hoped he might be back a week or two earlier than expected but Feb 24 is just 17 days away, that’s less than 3 weeks time. I mean it just seems so much sooner. It’s exciting but it just seems too good to be true but of course I would be delighted :D

    bri

    February 7, 2009

  • Thanks george :D I just saw that on google. I was like whaaaat!!! I was so excited lol I was hoping we might see him in March but this month is a big surprise, a good surprise!! That would be so great, if he is ready. Arsene said that it’s important to be careful with the MCL so I know Arsene won’t let him play till he’s ready but if he is ready soon well obviously it would be just so wonderful to have him back  I would be so happy.

  • Some good news on Rosicky people,

“He is working on the pitch,” Wenger told the club’s official website. “He has touched the ball for the first time this week and we are quite positive about him, maybe more than he is.”

“He could be the good surprise of the season because in six or seven weeks he has a chance to be back.”

    Fingers crossed.
