Cesc super supporter!
3 January 2009
Happy New Year! We hope 2009 has been good to you so far! The Gunners began the year well winning 3 -1 in the third round of the FA Cup against Plymouth Argyle. A brace from Robin van Persie and an own goal saw Arsenal run out comfortable winners, match report.
Cesc attended the match to lend his support to the team. Although he is still on crutches, Arsenal’s super hop-along fan was there to cheer his team-mates on. In the match programme, Cesc said, “The FA Cup is the first and only trophy that I have won here, so I really hope that when I come back we can be ready to play in a semi-final and then walk out at Wembley on 30 May. But we will have to work hard and not take anything for granted if we want to get there.
“The FA Cup is a very prestigious tournament, one that everybody here wants to win and that’s what we will be trying to do. As far as I am concerned, we’re always giving everything in this competition for ourselves, for fans and the club. Maybe we took our eye off it a bit last year because we were in the semi-finals of the Carling Cup as well as everything else so we had a lot of options, but we are fighting strongly on other fronts this time around too and I’m sure we won’t have the same outcome.” There is a photo in the photo section
Arsenal drew Cardiff (away) for the fourth round of the FA Cup to be played on January 24th.
Cesc Fabregas Photos – at the moment we are working on the photo section. When we began the site we only put up a handful of photos for each of the Arsenal season’s prior to the current one. It was always our intention to add to these but we never seemed to find the time.
We are going to be adding a lot of pictures of Cesc playing for Arsenal, Spain and off-the-pitch over the coming weeks, starting with some from 2004/2005 which are in the latest photos section. As the photos are new to the site we will put them all in ‘latest photos’ before we move them. So keep an eye out. We will of course be adding any new pictures of Cesc as well!
Dr Cugat praises Cesc – I’m sorry we are late posting this because mj and I have been away. After Cesc visited with Dr Cugat in Barcelona on December 23, Dr Cugat was interviewed on Cadena Ser’s Radio Show, ‘El Larguero.’ He praised Cesc personally saying, “tiene la cabeza muy bien amueblada” – which means “he is smart and has his feet on the ground.”
Dr Cugat is one of the best traumatologists in the world. He has treated players such as Puyol, Eto’o, Ronaldinho, Fernando Torres and recently David Silva amongst many others. The Doctor confirmed that Cesc would be able to run and train with the ball in three months. This is in keeping with Cesc’s expected return in April 2009. A big thank you to Soarne for sending through this information.

wow Plu it must be freezing there alright they had to postpone the reserves game (btw thanks bri!) because the pitch was frozen… so I’ll have to wait a bit longer to see Eduardo’s next run out.
I don’t know if we are going to sign Arshavin or not but I’d be pleased if we did… of course the last time I thought we would sign someone, and I was really stoked about it, was Alonso… and we all know how that turned out… better luck this time!
Thank god…thank Soarne!
and Thank you, Rose for posting this
thanks Rose,Plu n George.
your xplanations really cool me…
hope for the best to come.
Who knows Plu, all I know is I didn’t take “no progress” as a positive sign of anything happening or as a clear indication that Arshavin is still a target but he might be I don’t know. As I said, I really don’t think we can be sure of much as Arsene plays his cards pretty close to his chest. And it’s best to treat all rumours as untrue until their is concrete evidence to the contrary.
On Arsenal.com they put up the no progress quote under a headline “Wenger cools Arshavin rumour” but in the rest of the media they took the quote as evidence we would be signing him lol. Seriously, I don’t even try to figure this stuff out
Don’t worry Emma. As Rosie said Arsene only just came out and re-confirmed his committment,,, not that there was ever any real doubt,,, and there is no reason as yet to think we will be out of the top 4,,, but IF that happened,,, lets hope it doesn’t,,, there is absolutely no way that the board has even decided what they would do,,, so how can there be any truth to such a rumour?
Personally I don’t think the board would take such drastic action as Arsene’s management style and policies have enabled the board to meet their financial targets,,, and I don’t think any other manager could have achieved as much with as little.
awww. Emma. Don’t be scared. Wenger will honour his contract. And there is absolutely no way the board will get rid of him, as they know the main reason why a lot of players come here is because of Wenger, and also, no other manager would be able to do half as well as Wenger has done with the amount of money he has. Those bust up reports are rumours. Wenger’s comments indicate he is in line with the board, so don’t worry!XD
I think Arshavin is a target.because wenger said there was no progress in regards to Arshavin, whilst he has said arteta, given and inler aren’t targets.
robbie- it is freezing in england right now. Some matches had to be cancelled on saturday because of the frost on the pitches. And it has finally started snowing.XD
Hi Emma
don’t be scared. There’s always all kinds of rumours especially during transfer windows. The press make a lot up. I guess it sells papers. We don’t even know if Arshavin is really a target we are being linked with him, Arteta, Ireland, Given, Alonso, Inler, and I’m sure there will be more names added to the list before the week is out
lol@bri thanks for those. The Jonah one is an oldie but a goodie
Thanks Plu and Robbie – we should have another batch of pics up later today.
Oh, my Cescito is back in London!…..*hugs*….he looks so cold!
….it was a great match (considering)…I’m glad we advanced to the fourth round…Cardiff City (I wonder if Aaron is excited playing his old club)
…..here’s hoping we win some silverware this season (I’d take anything at this point)….lol…
Loving the gallery updates….keep up the great work!
Thanks! Sam and George! XD
thanks for the comments on the game…I miss it bccoz its not on tv.
anyway its good that Arsenal win n Cesc was there….it is nice to see him around.
today i read about wenger became furious because not enaogh budget to buy Arshavin n there is dispute with the management.also there is rumour that he will be sacked if Arsenal not qualified for champion league next season.
Rose….please …is it true…
this type of story really made me scare.
ooo. Cardiff. That will be interesting.I hope Aaron plays.
spuds v man united. Yesss. One of those two going out makes me happy. XD. I’m sad, I know.
I am loving the old pics. ^^ This site is going to be awesome.
Sambo, Eduardo is playing for the reserves tonight against West Brom so in another few weeks we should see him in the first team. Fingers crossed!
Ummm Rose Welsh jokes are a lot like kiwi jokes so you probably know some you could use… like this one: How does a welsh man find a sheep in long grass? Very attractive.
Here’s a good one though
The All Blacks were playing Wales, and after the half-time whistle blew, they found themselves ahead 50-0, Jonah Lomu getting eight tries. The rest of the team decided to head for the pub instead of playing the second half, leaving Jonah to go out on his own.
“No worries,†Jonah told them, “I’ll join you later and tell you what happened.†After the game Jonah headed for the pub where he told his team mates the final score – 95-3.
“What?!â€, they said, “How did you let them get three points?â€
Jonah replied apologetically: “I was sent off with 20 minutes to go.â€
Anyway, I’m happy with the draw
lol ok Rosie I’ll try to be more positive about ro-SICK-y
I’m happy with Cardiff City. It will be a great cup tie!
Happy New Year MiLa
Hi Plu
I agree Vela is playing better than Bendtner. I would like to see Vela get more playing time. That was funny from Arsene. It was good to see him looking a bit happier and not so grim.
Hi zty
I think Robin could be a good stand-in captain but I think there has been enough bad headlines at Arsenal so I think it’s best to keep Manny as stand-in captain when he plays because we just don’t need the whole thing of the media asking why Manny was stripped of the vice-captaincy – and blah blah blah. There has been way too much blah already.
Thanks George
So Cardiff – damn I don’t know a single good welsh joke
It has banana skin potential – Cardiff ain’t no easy beats. We’ll win though. Of course!
You’re welcome meri
I’m glad you like old pics as it looks like we’ll be posting a lot of them lol
Now nzgooner
Don’t say that about poor Rosicky and his mystery injury. He’ll be back soon
Yeppers. I’m happy with that draw. So long as the lads are fired up for it I reckon we can win it.
When Rosicky is back and hopefully it’s soon… it will feel like a new signing lol Also we should be seeing Eduardo again soon I think. He had a hamstring problem after the reserve game against Portsmouth but hopefully he has recovered from that and can play a few more reserve games to get his match fitness back.
Thanks George. I’m happy with Cardiff. They’ll keep us on our toes but we should win it and Ramsey will get to go home so that will be nice for him. I’m thrilled the Spuds got Manchester United
I heard about cesc being in the stands with rosicky. Kind of reminds me of last year, when all the four musketeers where injured and watching from the stands.I thought he was staying in Spain for a month. :s Nice of him to come and support the team- same goes to Rosicky. He comes along to quite a lot of our matches. XD I hope he is truly able to come back by feb rather than being out forever.
I’m glad we won.XD Rvp and his chocolate leg, and nasri were great. They all played good I thought. Apart from bendtner…I don’t know what is going on with him, and how he is being picked ahead of Vela. Imo, vela is playing better than Bendtner right now.
lol @ man city losing against nottingham forest XD
I got a comment from wenger after the match, which some of you might find funny XD:
On Sir Alex Ferguson’s recent comments about fixture congestion:
“Incidentally I saw today that Ferguson had a case about fixtures. [A phone rings in the press conference] It is him, how can he hear what I say here? Everywhere!
I must say we checked [the fixtures] because we are always curious and I think he has a case but I think we have a case too.
^^ I love his sense of humour.
I didn’t realise he was at the game and I watched it lol how did I miss that!! I wish I’d seen him yawning. Too funny XD
We drew Cardiff for the 4th round,,, they were finalists last year,,, so it won’t be easy but we can do it
Thanks for the pix! I like to look at the old ones too as many I not seen =)
Cesc is great supporter! Arsenal #2 fan after me!! lol
Good win. I thought Diaby played well. He has really improved and is shaping up for us. Glad to see Rosicky and Cesc can’t wait to have them both back in the team
awww!!! that coat looks far to big for him and he looks like he wearing the same trousers as when he went to the doctors… maybe they the only ones that fit over the brace. awww <3 Cesc <3
It was good to get a win and Bolton at home should be winnable too so hopefully we can build a 2009 winning streak
Good to see Cesc at the match just wish he was on the pitch rather than in the stands.
Agree with you NY-Gunner we played well in the second half. We should have had a couple more goals!
I have to say I feel sorry for Bendtner he is enduring a bad run of form and the fans are very impatient with him now. Arsene is hanging in there with him but you wonder how much longer he can afford to persist.
Glad to see Cesc there. It wouldn’t surprise me if we see Cesc back playing before we see Rosicky…
Poor Cesc when I see him with da crutches I just wanna hug him!
There’s no reason for Cesc not to move around the small amount required to go to a game. That’s what the brace and crutches are for so he can get himself from a car to a seat without placing any weight on his leg. Good on him for making the effort to support the boys in London.
I thought Fabianski showed promise I am glad Wenger has given him the goal-keeping duties for the FA Cup.
Happy New Year everyone!!
sorry it took so long for me to wish u guys cuz i wasnt around.. hehe..
Captain Cesc should have known better not to move around but instead of resting at home; he went down to see his team-mates play against Plymouth.. wat a guy!!
guess he really miss football!! hehe..
but it was nice to see Cesc giving his support to the team though he cant play alongside wif them..
hopes he’ll get better soon..
wow! Cesc injury quite bad but still he goes to the match! Hope this is a good sign!
Good win by the gunners! I hope we can win the FA Cup again XD
It was great of Cesc to go and support the team. He really loves Arsenal!! He’s pure class.
I thought Robin was a really good captain. I would like to see him do it until Cesc is back as Almunia is too far away to communicate but Arsene will probably give it back to Manny. I think Arsene gives it to an older long-serving player each game (with the exception of Gallas obvious)
siew lan
the 4th round draw will be held this afternoon (UK time) so we will find out then who we are going to play.
zty
I thought Robin had a great game today but I don’t know whether he is a better option for stand-in captain than Almunia. How well he played individually and the captaincy shouldn’t be confused. Anyway, it’s up to Wenger.
Ramsey, Nasri and van Persie all played very well. Fabianski made a good save near the end too.
Good to see Cesc out and about, sorry Rosie… I should have told you he was there as I knew you didn’t get to see the game. He sat next to Rosicky and you could see him yawning lol.
nice photos:)
dont u think robin can be a good captain for us when cesc is injured?:P
awwww Cesc is so cute la!! XD I’m glad we win next round who we play?
Great start to 2009 hopefully a new year is a new beginning for the team and it will be onwards and upwards from here.
I’m glad to see Cesc there. With all the stories about Toure and Gallas in the media. It’s important that the team ‘peace-maker’ visit with the team.
In the 1st half we looked a little unconvincing but in the 2nd half we played really well.
I thought Ramsey did well, he has a bright future ahead
Good to see Cesc supporting the boys
Hi kim li
Arsene already came out and denied the reports and restated that he isn’t going anywhere so I wouldn’t take any notice of the Real Madrid rumours.
I thought Denilson played quite well in the last two matches.
You’re welcome Bri and Jas ;D
I’ve just realised Cesc was at the match – I just got home a few hours ago and I didn’t even look for pics because I thought he was in Barcelona for a month – awww he went to support the team. That’s so awesome
what a captain! I’ve added a pic of him I’ll try to find more.
It was a good win. Maybe we play better without Denilson??
what you think of all these stories about Cesc and Wenger to Real Madrid?
Thanks for the pics XD
Cesc’s mullet FTW!! hahaha
Thanks for the photos Rose! Looking forward to more match photos! I think it’s a great idea to add some old photos especially now when we don’t have new photos
