Cesc to start treatment in a month

Cesc Fabregas and Xabi AlonsoThere was a short interview with Cesc Fabregas in yesterday’s matchday programme. He said, “Since the Liverpool game, Xabi Alonso has called me every day. He is very worried but I told him that he had nothing to do with it – he just tried to win the ball, the same as me, and these things happen as I say. As a footballer who is lucky to be able to play and enjoy what I do every week, you always take the risk that injuries can occur.”

Cesc knew immediately that the problem would be serious but, he says he has been fortunate until now, “When the tackle came in last Sunday I felt pain in my knee and when, as soon as I started walking, I couldn’t put my foot on the ground so I knew it was not good. I was wishing and praying that nothing was broken but unfortunately it was. This is football though, worse things can take place in life and sometimes in your career these things will happen so this is my turn.”

“I’ve been very healthy in the last five years, always being able to give 100 per cent in every game for Arsenal – I’ve missed very few games in that time so I have to be happy for everything and also not forget that this injury could have been a bit worse, so I have to feel fortunate for that as well.”

{UPDATE – Cesc also discussed his recovery saying, “My recovery schedule is not very exciting. I went to see the surgeon in Barcelona before Christmas and I’m going to stay for a month before I can start having a bit of treatment.”

“I cannot move my right leg right now or really do a lot – I’m generally just staying on the sofa or the bed at home and resting my leg up.”

“While I recover I will be praying for Arsenal to do well and hopefully we will be competing in the league, FA Cup and Champions League when I return.”}

Nicklas Bendtner and Manuel Almunia missing Cesc

In recent interviews both Bendtner and Almunia have rued the loss of captain and team-mate Cesc Fabregas.

Nicklas Bendtner told Ekstra Bladet, “Of course we notice that he [Fabregas] is out. He was our engine and he created loads of chances for others with his fantastic passes.”

Manuel Almunia told the Daily Mail, “Fabregas is very big for us. The news has come at the worst possible moment for us but we have to recover and try and play in the same way.”

He added, “Cesc was upset after the game but I know him very well and I know he is going to recover very quickly.” We’re all hoping you’re right big Al!

In the programme notes Arsene Wenger also mentioned Cesc in discussing his transfer Window plans. He said, “Cesc is a long way from playing again, so are Tomas Rosicky and Theo Walcott, and these are three creative players that we count on at the start of the season. So what we might need is someone who can create a little spark.” Of course just who that someone is going to be will be filling quite a few newspaper column inches in the weeks to come! However, Arsene also said, “We already have many young players so, if we buy, it will be somebody who is ready to play straight away. A loan deal could also be a possibility.” So by the sounds of that we could be signing someone who has already started shaving! Let the speculation continue!

There is a link to it from the main page of this site. He also talked about them in some interviews he did on Radio one. He mentions Desperate Housewives in the web chat as well. The different interviews are already on the site. Most of them were newspaper interviews :D

  • db10, let’s worry about finishing out of the top 4 if and when it happens. There’s a lot of season left, we have gone unbeaten in the last six matches and now Wenger may make a couple of additions in the window. Don’t give up on things yet.

Hey Plu :D I don’t think we can take too much from anything Wenger says at the moment, he could be saying these things to aid with negotiations. There’s a lot of factors go into a transfer, guess we’ll just have to sit tight and wait to see what actually happens. The rumours about Arshavin are flowing thick and fast, he could be a good option but it’s impossible to know what truth there is to the speculation.

  • Plu no one actually knows how much money Arsene Wenger actually has, as some believe the 30 million isn’t just for fees but is also for wages… and if that’s the case then 30 million is nada.

I don’t know what will happen in the window… but we are going to be linked with everyone and their granny until it closes that much is for sure.

  • Alonso won’t sign for Arsenal that ship has sailed if ever there was a real chance. I don’t blame Alonso in any way for the challenge but knowing how often he rings up really doesn’t do a thing for me either. It helps how? If Cesc plays in the UEFA cup next season will Alonso ring him every day including the days that Alonso plays CL?

    db10

    December 29, 2008

  • Alonso must have a guilty conscience,,, nah seriously it’s nice of him to ring

  • awww. Xabi. Bless him.Calling every day. He needs to relax. Cesc is right. It wasn’t his fault. But you know, if he’s feeling really bad, he could always come transfer over to Arsenal ;)
Cesc is lucky he hasn’t had a major injury in football up to date. He’ll come bouncing back.

AW said he wants to sign a creative midfielder with experience, but he’s not sure whether the money is available. O_o I thought he had £30 million to spend…..
