FC Porto 2 – 0 Arsenal
I think the less I say about the match the better. On the plus side little Jack Wilshire played well and Aaron Ramsey showed a lot of promise, in what was otherwise, not the best performance from the gunners. I bet Cesc would rather have been watching Desperate Housewives during the second half. Full match report.
The defeat means that we finish second in our group and could draw any of the following teams in the Champions League round of 16: Bayern Munich, AS Roma, FC Barcelona, Panathinaikos or Juventus. The draw will take place next Friday December 19th.
Cesc Fabregas missed the game because he had a knee injury. Here’s hoping he will be fit for Saturday!
Reminder: Vote for Cesc, Ade and Sagna! – Cesc Fabregas, Bacary Sagna and Emmanuel Adebayor have been nominated for UEFA’s team of 2008, you can go here to vote for them!

I watched first half of the game but couldn’t finish it because we got important exam today. I had very bad feeling about the game last night, didn’t really want to know the result before my exam. Now my performance end up very well, but the team’s seems not that well…
Anyway we make to the next round, that’s good… hopefully we won’t face barca that early…but, whatever the draw, the only thing can stop arsenal is arsenal…

guys i think that the only good thing here is that our youth is really getting experience . nothing wrong with makink mistakes as long as they arnt reapeated .
so much rumours about the players arsene gonna buy in january but i guess the most interesting is alonso from liverpool . he is doing pretty good job with liverpol this season .
i didnt watch that game yesterday but i heard that ramsey ws the best player in our squad though we didnt play that good .
the next round of the campions league rules
we cant face clubs from our own group
we cant face clubs from our same league like manutd or liverpool
we cant face runners-up – who are just like us – from other groups .
i dont think about our next draw in the campions league very much because all the teams are the same they are all strong and play very well.
go gunners
go fabregas

i can be positive here too

We can beat anyone on a good day (ahem with our best players) that said i would like
1-Pana
2-Juve
3-AS Roma
4-Bayern
5-Barca
in that order lol
Well we missed last nights game because we were travelling but it doesn’t sound like we missed too much. Hopefully it was good experience for the young ones and hopefully we are lucky with the draw.

Max the trouble is that January is not a great time to buy most of the better players are cup-tied but I guess we’ll have to wait and see…

lol ok it’s bad when a trip to the dentist is a better option than watching the match. But I have to agree with ya Robbie it was a freaking ‘root canal’ of a game. When did we get to be so dire. God I hope Arsene has been good and that Santa will bring him some players or at least a magic wand to use on most of the current squad.
I don’t mind who we get in the draw so long as it’s not Barcelona. Seriously, I will cry if we get Barcelona. We need time for a miracle before we play them I do not want us to have our asses handed to us by Henry and Hleb. I know you might say but we could beat them…but they are the best in Europe right now as Cesc said… and we are going to need 3 offside goals, to be awarded 2 dodgy penalties in our favour and to tie Lionel Messi’s shoelaces together, to beat them with either Denilson or Song on the pitch and Tweety. Sorry but not them.

Well, I’ve had a day to think about it and ……that match still was bloody awful….I can only think about the things I could have done with those 90 minutes yesterday – done my taxes, clean the house, gone to dentist, reorganize the junk drawer, re-watched the Arsenal v Man United match……ah, well….the life of a Gooner

I don’t care who we draw and I don’t even care so much whether we win or lose at this stage, though I’d much prefer us to win, but all I really want is to see the team play good football. I am tired of watching bad football.
ok ok I do mind if we lose

good call Emma! You really really didn’t miss anything.
I know Kim li perhaps I should blow up a picture of Cesc’s knee and post it so you can all print a copy out and place your hands on it and think healing thoughts, like what they did for Beckham’s foot before the World Cup in 2002 lol

The teams we might get drawn against: Juve,Barca,Bayern Munich, Roma or panathinaikos.
Obviously, on paper, Panathinaikos seems the easiest, but we never know with this team. We bloody lost to PSV 2 seasons ago but won AC Milan last season. So…I don’t really care who we draw.
samantha
December 11, 2008
We won’t get drawn against any of the teams from England right? So that effectively rules out Man United and Liverpool?

December 11, 2008

We were missing our best players so it was always going to be tough. The main thing is to win on Saturday. And to do that we need Clichy, Sagna, RVP, Adebayor and Cesc starting.

The 7th loss of the season and we only lost 7 in all competitions last season. I don’t mind who we draw. As we could win or lose to anyone as we are so inconsistent.
NY-Gunner
December 10, 2008
I actually wouldn’t mind us being drawn against barca, simply cos this season we have performed better against the big teams.
Man u or liverpool…i wouldn’t want to be drawn against them, as we play them every year, and so it wouldn’t be as exciting as playing a team from abroad.
I hope cesc gets better by Saturday, because the midfield today looked awful…well all areas of the pitch looked awful, but the midfield especially. Nobody was really creating chances. Ramsey and Wilshere seemed to be the best players out there tonight.
