Congratulations Captain Fabregas!

It’s official. Cesc Fabregas was named Arsenal’s new permanent captain by Arsene Wenger in a press conference held this afternoon. Arsene Wenger said
“William [Gallas] will play against Kiev, but the captain of the team will be Fabregas. I do not think I have to especially explain why I make the decisions, but it is a permanent thing.
“I believe the captain is the voice of the club towards the outside, and is one of the leaders of the team. However, I do not believe in just one man in the dressing room who sorts out all of the problems.
“A successful team is a shared leadership inside the dressing room. He (Fabregas) will be one of the leaders, but not the only one”
Cesc Fabregas told arsenal.com
“It is a great honour for me to captain one of the biggest clubs in the world. It is a proud moment. I know it’s a big responsibility but together with my team-mates, I know we have the spirit and commitment to get back to winning ways and fulfill our potential.”
Gael Clichy has shown his support for Cesc’s appointment telling Sky Sports News:
“It is a new start and I am sure Cesc will do well. He has been fantastic for us over the last couple of seasons. I think it is a good choice from the boss and I am sure all the players will give all their support.
“When we were losing 1-0 to Sunderland this season and he scored to get us the draw, that showed his character. He is a major player for Arsenal.”

Yes Nasri and Diaby are out
But Vela can play on the wing and so can Ramsey but it remains to be seeen if Arsene will agree with me. He usually doesn’t
We’ll probably play Ramsey and Denilson on the wings and Song in the middle with Cesc

I am so proud of him. ^^
It’s going to be a tough job, what with the condition arsenal is in right now, but I have full faith in him.

well said TA and I also liked the fact that Arsene talked about their being many leaders in the team because really that is very true and players at this level should all know what is required.

love it! absolutely love it! may it be the first of many steps in the right direction.
Cesc will be a solid on field leader, he handles the press with intelligence, he loves the club and gets on well with his team-mates which should help improve morale within the team. He will be a good captain.

MJ,while I share your concern, Rose is right….now is the time to get behind our new fearless leader and “rally the troops” so to speak toward victory (at this point , I’d take ANY victory)….I have faith in Wenger, I have faith in Cesc and more importantly I have FAITH IN THE ARSENAL ! Cesc baby, he’s the da MAN ! ….Now, fingers crossed, I pray,I hope – The team rises to the standards of their new Captain!…;D

*hugs* mj I know you are worried about things hon but it is an honor and it is a special moment in his career. I hope all gooners and the team will get behind him now and give him all the support he needs and deserves.
Arsene clearly thinks he can do it and has faith and Arsene knows

Well it’s official. So I will try to be positive about it. After all I have always wanted Cesc to be our captain, especially for the last year. I do *sorry* wish he was taking the armband at a better time and under better circumstances tho.
I think he will be a great captain tho, no doubt he loves the club and he wants us to be successful and he will give his whole heart to the job.
