Be a gooner be a giver
It’s two months since Arsenal launched the charity of the season appeal for the Teenage Cancer Trust. Just a reminder that you can make donations to this worthy cause through the Be a Gooner Be a Giver website. Every little bit helps. I have added some more photos of Cesc Fabregas attending the charity of the season launch to the photos section.

*hugs* TA – sorry I wasn’t trying to give you a hard time I just didn’t think both things would leap into many peoples heads lol I agree it’s a bad look but some of the comments I’ve read on the net make it sound like hes been caught in a criminal act and the fuss is a bit OTT is all.

Well… ok I admit I probably wouldn’t have linked the two things if I hadn’t have seen this on the site BUT it doesn’t change the fact that it’s a bad look…
Glad to see the mancs drop points … now we just need to keep this winning habit going against West Ham.

Yup, thanks , I love the “be a gooner, be a giver” campaign…given Arsenal’s young line-up and Wenger’s philosophy it’s ‘heart warming’ to see the young folks learn to be active in their community & socially active with the ‘young gooners’ aswell…Cheers ;D …..Oh and MJ & Sam – you’re welcome !

Thanks for the pics mj. It puts things into perspective doesn’t it, without your health nothing else really matters. Perhaps Gallas should visit the hospital it might help him to quit!

I guess I kind of get your logic TA but I think you’re reaching a little to actually link the two things. I think if mj had not posted this today, you probably never would have even thought about what Arsenal’s charity of the season is when you heard about this Gallas story.
I think this whole thing is a mountain out of a molehill.
Anyway, there are more important things happening!! Manchester United drew with Everton so they dropped two points and are still a point behind us with 8 games played. Hull are killing WBA tho – so they aren’t giving up 3rd this week.

I think you misunderstood north londoner. I wasn’t comparing Willies behaviour to other footballers in general. I was saying it is a really bad look given the club is working with the Teenage cancer trust this season.
If you can’t see why it’s in really poor taste for the captain of the team, who is looked up to by some young gunners to be photographed with a cigarette dangling from his mouth… when the club is working with a cancer charity, then we’ll have to agree to disagree. I said it was off the charts as bad looks go. I didn’t say it was off the charts as bad behaviour goes.

There are plenty of fans who think it’s really off that van Persie smokes. Wenger has stated he has a “moral and physical” objection to smoking hes not alone in those kinds of views.
Personally, I don’t think one unlit cigarette deserves the amount of attention it’s getting. But I also get what TA is saying, it is a bad look for a club associated with the Teenage Cancer Trust to have it’s captain, who youngsters look up to, photographed in this way, considering the direct and proven link between smoking and cancer.

ok it wasnt gallas finest hour but many players smoke, and wenger admitted it and compared to what footballers do today, what gallas did does not go off the charts like players with their drugs and sex party romps*cough* ronaldo cough*, it seems to me many arsenal fans have joined the bandwagon of blaming gallas for anything these days if it was toure or eboue or cesc or anyone someonelse fans would have just laughed it off or wouldnt care btw van persie was caught smoking too and nobody gave a hoot. cheers

Given this is our charity of the season… Gallas really needs to get his act together. As bad looks go, this “smoking” thing is off the charts.

Thanks mj
I am glad the club arranges these things, you could see it meant a lot to the patients to meet Cesc. It’s nice hes able to make their days a little brighter as I just can’t imagine how tough life must be for them.
