Dynamo Kiev 1 – 1 Arsenal
17 September 2008
A point is a point and we’ll take it although Arsenal really deserved the win! Away trips to places such as the Ukraine, even in September, are always banana skins waiting to happen. It was a nail biter today, with a shockingly harsh decision against Bacary Sagna putting Arsenal a goal behind, the gunners left it until the 88th minute to get themselves out of the cactus, with an equaliser from captain Gallas.
Cesc did not play his best game but he gave it everything as always. He made some excellent passes but will have been frustrated when just before the break he had an excellent goal scoring opportunity, but was unable to get a clean connection on the ball and shot into the ground, with the rebound going straight to the keeper. He still seems to be getting back to full match fitness. Read the match report. View match photos.

You edited me! I’ll forgive you this one time just don’t be making a habit of it
And yeah you might have a point about the fitness thing
The mullet was cool! In a mad max kind of way
I just edited what you wrote Sam to mention his match fitness. You know this was the first time Cesc played two 90 minute games 4 days apart, since April. He looked like he was struggling at the end to me ( fitness expert that I am ha!) so I thought it might be a factor… then again everyone has one of those days once in a while so it’s not really that big of a deal
Actually mj at this point I’d rather discuss his hair than last night’s match…. but that’s only because I’d really rather forget yesterday’s match…
Now on the topic of his hair let me just say BRING BACK THE MULLET!!!!!
I thought Cesc played well!! – yes yes I know it’s easy sitting in the commentators seat to say he should have scored from that opportunity at the end of the first half but sometimes it is easier to score from that distance when you run onto the ball with some momentum coming into the box, but Cesc was waiting in the box, and with the angle he received the ball from, was not able to get much power on it using his left foot, so for all that everyone says it was gilt edged – I DISAGREE – obviously it would have been great if he had scored but I don’t think it was a sitter and I’ve seen a lot of people miss worse er such as Adebayor a little earlier in the half!
Now on to the more important things. I love the away kit and his hair looks fantastic!! I just had to mention that becos I know how Sam loves it when I talk about the players hair!! hahahaha
Rosie I think he probably misses Flamini too – also I don’t know that today’s formation really worked too well for anyone.
Hello Frisch!
I’m sure Arsenal will win the return leg too! Go Cesc!
maybe, he didn’t his best . But, we have another game. Obviously, arsenal will be win!! we’ll see what happens!!GO! CESC!!!>_<b
Aside from the miss at the end of the first half which was a shame and I felt so bad for him… but that’s the way it goes some days in football… I thought Cesc did well. It’s just we have such high expectations of how he should play. I don’t think the mid-field has gelled as yet, it’s probably difficult for Cesc at the moment as he had a really good partnership with Flamini. Anyway, I’m sure he’ll bounce back.
