Welcome back Cesc!
Cesc kicked off his new season today, returning to action for Arsenal in the 4-0 win over FC Twente. Arsenal are comfortably through to the group stage of the Champions League after an impressive performance from the team. Cesc started the match and was an influential figure for the Gunners before being subbed off in the 66th minute, to a well deserved standing ovation from the fans. His game was all the more impressive because he is still coming back to full match fitness after a hamstring injury.
Arsene Wenger praised the midfield maestro’s contribution saying, “He brings calm and confidence to the side. Overall we had a good balance with him in the side.
“He could have stayed on, he was disappointed Twente didn’t have a go because he always wants to test himself.
“I took him off because he has only just come back from the hamstring injury.”
