Cesc interview in Marca
UPDATE: This interview turned out to have been invented by Marca and is completely fabricated.
There have been recent rumors that Real Madrid have made an approach for Cesc Fabregas. Today there is an interview in Marca that quotes Cesc as saying, that he told the Preseident of Real Madrid, that the time is not right for him to move to the Santiago Bernabeu. However, Cesc said that he did not rule out such a move at some time in the future and that he was flattered by Real Madrid’s interest in signing him.
Cesc praised Cristiano Ronaldo saying that he had helped Manchester United win trophies and that he thought he would do the same for Real Madrid. He also mentioned that Real Madrid are the favourites to win La Liga this coming season. In this context he also said that he hoped Arsenal would have success because four seasons without a trophy was a lot.
I’m sure all Arsenal fans would agree with him that another season without a trophy would be disappointing for everyone. Unfortunately the UK media are reporting that Cesc said, four seasons without a trophy would be “too much” and that he implied he would leave if the club experienced another barren campaign. However, he never said this. (AND we are not going to have another barren campaign)
Marca are not a reliable source. I have seen Marca completely fabricate quotes and twist things to create stories out of nothing. I would say this story should be taken as Cesc saying a diplomatic and polite, thanks but no thanks to Real Madrid – and nothing more.
